Velocity Sports
& Education, founded and developed by successful businessman and
philanthropist James F. Pomeroy II, is on a two-pronged mission: to help kids
improve their sports skills and, while they’re at it, improve their college
options as well.
James F. Pomeroy II,
“Coach Jim” to both students and teachers at Velocity Sports & Education,
is a firm believer in the role of sports in improving not just one’s physical
and mental well-being, but also one’s educational and professional future. In
this spirit, and as a way of giving back to the community, he founded Velocity.
His aim: To empower kids across the nation, one training center at a time.
But empowering
kids takes many forms. One of them is to offer cutting-edge and
Internet-driven training on techniques for playing baseball and other sports the
right way - for example, how to pitch the correct way - so as to prevent
sports injuries. The other way is to help with scholarships and college
placement for deserving athletes - a concept that has placed Velocity on the
map and earned accolades for Pomeroy. So far, James F. Pomeroy has placed
thousands of baseball players in well-known American colleges and universities.
Velocity’s College Bound Placement
Programs and Show Camp Program are part of its specialized player development
strategies, providing services such as:
College admission interview coaching and tips *Detailed athletic profile
and contact list * Review camps and tournaments * Evaluations of various
college athletic programs *Athletic college visit planning * Communicating with
college coaches and admissions officers *Athletic scholarship and financial aid

Velocity Show Camps are scheduled at
optimum dates and are structured to highlight the skills of players who want to
play at the college baseball level. The program includes workouts, strategies,
practice games in front of both collegiate coaches and baseball scouts.

Velocity works in partnership with its not-for-profit foundation. Velocity’s sole

Archibald Albright at Drexel Burnham, and then started his own consulting and
financial and investment services groups. A father of two and a baseball
